Android is a Linux-based operating system designed for Mobile and Tablet and Smartphones Which was released on 5 Nov. 2007 with Android Beta Version. And was developed by Google and The Open Handset Alliance (OHA). The first Commercial version of Android 1.0 was released on 23 Sep – 2008.

Android 1.1

Android 1.6: Donut
It was released in September 2009, It was called code name 'Donut'. It features includes; Quick search boxes, an updated camera interface, camcorder and gallery, updated Google play, CDMA/EVDO & VPN Support, battery usage indicator, WVGA screen resolution support, text to speech engine.
Android 2.0-2.1: Eclair

Honeycomb ushered in the era of tablets with flexible interface design that showcases large imaginery and seamless on screen navigation, customizable homescreen, quick access to camera features, hardware acceleration, a revamped user interface designed specifically for tablets, an action bar, improved multi-talking, u pdated standard Android apps, better copy/paste, redesigned keyboard.

Android 4.4 Kitkat was announced on Sep 3, 2013 by Google. This Android 4.4 was optimised to run on a huge range of smartphone then oldest Android Version, Having 512 MB RAM. Features includes: redesigned user interface built around a responsive design language referred to as 'material design', multiscreen, improvements to the notifications, which can be accessed from the lockscreen and displated within applications as top-of-the-screen banners.
Android 6.0: Marshmallow
Android 6.0 Marshmallow was released on May 28, 2015 during Google I/O. It features includes: Contextual search from keywords within apps, introduction of Doze mode, which reduces CPU speed while the screen is off in order to save battery life, App Standby feature, Application search bar and favorites, Native fingerprint reader support, Renamed "Priority" mode to "Do Not Disturb" mode, App Linking for faster instinctive opening of links with corresponding applications, Larger Application folders with multiple pages, Demo Mode feature for screenshot-capture usage, Automatic full data backup and restore for apps, 4K display mode for apps, Adoptable External storage to behave like Internal Storage,Experimental multi-window feature.
Android 7.0: Nougat
Android 7.0 Nougat is the latest version of Android which will be release in the month of August or September 2016. It features includes: Ability to display color calibration, Ability to screen zoom, Ability to switch apps by double tapping in overview button, Added Emergency information part, Added the "Clear All" button in Overview screen, Another system partition, which gets updated when not in use, allowing for seamless system updates, Daydream virtual reality platform (VR interface), Improved Doze functionality, which aims to prolong battery life, Improvements to file browser, Improved fingerprint swipe performance.
Android 8.0: Oreo/Orange/Oatcak (Not Confirmed)
Android "O" is the working title of an upcoming release of the Android mobile operating system. It was first released as an alpha quality developer preview on March 21, 2017. It is internally codenamed “Oatmeal Cookie,” though final release names have differed from internal release names.
